Privacy Policy
Effective 17 July 2026
The short version
FocusFlyer is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no names, no email addresses. Passengers are anonymous — other people can see that a seat is taken and what focus type it flies under, never who is sitting in it. We show no ads, we do not track you across apps, and we never sell data.
What we store, and where
On your device only
- Your flight log (completed sessions, routes, times, and — if you bail out — the place name near where you jumped).
- Preferences: home airport, map style, sound settings, custom focus types.
- If you use the focus shield: your selection of apps and websites to block. Apple’s Screen Time system hands us only opaque tokens — FocusFlyer never learns which apps you chose, and the selection never leaves your device.
In our backend (Google Firebase)
- A randomly generated anonymous identifier for your installation (Firebase Anonymous Authentication). It contains nothing about you and is not linked to any identity.
- When you fly a shared flight (link or public): the flight’s route (airport codes and city names), schedule, your seat number, your focus type, and your anonymous identifier. These records expire and are deleted automatically (about 30 days after the flight).
- Private flights publish only an anonymous, route-less “a plane took off” tally so the live counter works. Aggregate counters (flights flown, minutes focused) contain no identifiers at all.
Location
During onboarding the app may ask for your location once, only to suggest your nearest departure airport. The lookup happens on your device against a built-in airport list; your coordinates are not stored and are never sent to our servers. You can decline and pick an airport manually.
Service providers
- Google Firebase (authentication, database): processes requests from the app, which involves standard technical data such as IP addresses, per Firebase’s privacy documentation.
- Vercel (hosts this website): serves the site and provides cookieless, aggregate web analytics (page counts and referrers — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles), per the Vercel privacy policy.
- Mapbox (maps): the app and this site load map imagery from Mapbox, which receives the technical requests needed to serve tiles, per the Mapbox privacy policy.
- Apple: if you purchase a subscription when purchases launch, billing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no cross-app tracking (nothing that would require an App Tracking Transparency prompt).
- No sale or sharing of personal data with data brokers.
- No reading of your Screen Time usage — the shield only blocks what you chose, for the duration of a session you started.
Retention & deletion
Deleting the app deletes everything stored on your device. Shared-flight records in our backend expire automatically (~30 days). Because installations are anonymous, we cannot look up “your” data by name — if you want a specific record removed sooner, contact us with the flight code from your boarding pass.
Children
FocusFlyer is not directed at children under 13.
